Hearken Monk from Shu playing zither

Author: Bai Li(AD701-AD762, Tang Dynasty)

A monk from Shu carries a zither named ‘Green Damask’ in his arms,

He walks down from O’Mei mountain located afar west.

He plays for me with his hands stroking the strings,

I hear the sound wave from those pines standing on the peaks.

The musica rinses my soul like those gurgling streams,

The reverberation resonates with the  brass temple bells.

The dusk envelopes the dark verdant mountains, with a glide of my mind,

I start noticing the autumn clouds already get more dimmed.
