A Poem for Danqiu Yuan

Author: Bai Li(AD701-AD762, Tang Dynasty)

Translator: Lei Fan 2016 in Chicago

Danqiu Yuan, my dear friend,

Craving for the life of divinity.

At dawn, he drinks the pure water from river Yin,

When sunset, he returns to top of mountain Song,

with purple cloud winding around.

His footprints can be found across the thirty six peaks.

Lingering above the sky,

walking among the stars,

Riding the dragon whirring through the wind,

Flying over the rivers and seas.

My friend, you have a boundless heart,

So vast that connects you to the galaxy!
