The bitterness of waiting alone on jade deck

Author: Bai Li(AD701-AD762, Tang Dynasty)

Translator: Lei Fan 2016 in Chicago

The jade deck is covered by white dew at night,

Standing too long, the stockings are dampened.

Step inside, rolling down the crystal curtain,

But still staring at the shadowy autumn moon.

玉阶怨

玉阶生白露,
夜久侵罗袜。
却下水晶帘,
玲珑望秋月。
