[TRANSLATION]秋风词– Wind of Autumn

Wind of Autumn

Author: Bai Li(AD701-AD762, Tang Dynasty)

Translator: Lei Fan 2016 in Chicago

Wind of autumn is chilly

Moon of autumn is bright.

Fallen leaves accumulate, then get scattered.

Crows rest together, fly away when startled.

Miss you and eager to meet you again, but when?

In this moment of a lonely night, I fail to sleep.

Only when you walk into the world of love sickness,

Can you taste the bitterness of missing beloved ones.

The long lasting overthinking means lost in the long lasting remembrance,

But how come those ephemeral ones keep coming, without a stop?

Oh, if I would know my heart will be so tied down and chained,

I’d rather not meet and know you in the first place.
