The night songs of four seasons, Summer

Author: Bai Li(AD701-AD762, Tang Dynasty)

Translator: Lei Fan 2016 in Chicago

The mirror-liked lake spans three hundred miles,

Above the water, lotuses start blossoming.

Waiting to be picked by pretty maidens in May,

To watch their beauties, crowds narrow the stream.

Why anxious to return home before the moon rises, young girl?

You might as well be picked by emperor and live in his magnificent palace.
