A poem about heron, for Shaofu Song entering Three Gorges

White herons stand with one leg curled up.

 

Afraid of icy water under the bright moon.

They fly away, startled by people passing by,

Going straight toward Shaol Shijun, without a stop.

[NOTE] Shaofu: an official’s title in ancient China. The rank has different responsibilities in different dynasties. In Tang Dynasty, officials of this rank is typically in charge of artisan, craftsman, and related manufacturing and engineering activities.
赋得白鹭鸶,送宋少府入三峡
白鹭拳一足,月明秋水寒。
人惊远飞去,直向使君滩
