Song of Dike

Author: Bai Li(AD701-AD762, Tang Dynasty)

Translator: Lei Fan 2017 in Chicago

City of Xiangyang is surrounded by water of Han,

In warm spring, the flowers blossom on the dike.

I recollect our dates close to this dike,

Gazing at the clouds, tears are welled in my eyes.

The once subtle breeze again turns ruthless,

Blows and shreds my good dreams into fragments.

You once lived in my eyes and mind, but now gone,

Wish to send you a message, but nowhere to find.

大堤曲
汉水临襄阳,花开大堤暖。
佳期大堤下,泪向南云满。
春风复无情,吹我梦魂散。
不见眼中人,天长音信断。
